Consultation on Jaw Problems and related Headaches
There are many ailments, which can be directly related to TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint). This is the area in front of the ear where the upper jaw and lower jaw meet. Chewing, talking and yawning are all activities involving the movement of this joint. Inflammation of the TMJ joint can cause significant pain and trauma. These can include headaches, discomfort when eating, jaw popping, dizziness and ringing in the ears (tinnitus.)
TMJ problems can be linked to a host of behaviours including teeth grinding, stress, trauma, fingernail biting and even chewing gum. Sometimes a simple adjustment to the surface of the teeth, restoration of the occlusal surfaces, can be all that is needed to correct these problems.
