Fillings to strengthen teeth
Dental decay erodes your teeth causing ‘holes’. The acid, released by bacteria attacks the enamel surface of your teeth weakening the teeth and affecting the dentine layer. Once this occurs the nerves in the pulp of then tooth can be invaded. Pain occurs as the pulp contains nerves.
It is firstly necessary to remove the decay and ‘fill’ the hole.
These fillings can be resin or porcelain based and white in colour to match your surrounding teeth. The silver amalgam fillings of the past are often now replaced for cosmetic reasons.
