Root Canal Treatment
A root canal treatment is performed to save a tooth. Teeth can be damaged through injury, disease, medicinal drugs and decay. If a tooth is lost the patient can have difficulty chewing affecting the bite. For cosmetic reasons losing a tooth can be a problem. If a tooth is lost surrounding teeth may move causing additional problems. It is therefore essential to try to preserve a tooth where possible. Natural teeth are strong and it is always a first option to try and save a tooth.
At the completion of a root canal treatment an artificial ‘crown’ can be fitted if necessary to protect the tooth and enhance cosmetic appearance.
